The Rise of the Hutt Cartel, the first digital expansion pack to Star Wars: The Old Republic is now available to pre-order.
A little over a month ago the big news was Star Wars: The Old Republic officially switching to a free-to-play, or as some have called it, a buy-to-play model. Four weeks later game update 1.6 was released which brought players a new PvP warzone, as well as some long overdue additions to the space combat mini-game, among other things.
Today, SWTOR is making news again with BioWare’s announcement of the first official expansion pack to the game, The Rise of the Hutt Cartel, which will be available in the spring of 2013. The expansion is digital, there will be no boxed copies produced, and it’s already available to pre-order costing subscribers $9.99 or 50% off – while everyone else will pay $19.99.
A note on pre-ordering: Anyone who pre-orders on or before January 7th will receive five days of early game access to the expansion pack content. Additionally, those who pre-order will also be granted preferred status, if they don’t have it already.
While there are not full details on all of the changes coming to SWTOR in The Rise of the Hutt Cartel, we do know that ROTHC will introduce the following changes to the game:
- Introduction of the “aggressive new enemy”, the Hutt Cartel
- New planet, Makeb
- Level cap is raised to 55
- New story-driven missions
