Lara Croft returns today in a completely rebooted Tomb Raider!
Written by Rhianna Pratchett and John Stafford, Tomb Raider explores the origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from an untried and untested young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with her raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold.
Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, Tomb Raider will also feature, for the first time, a bespoke multiplayer campaign! The multiplayer campaign was developed simultaneously by Eidos in their Montréal studio.
Darrell Gallagher, Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics has this to say about the game’s launch:
“Creating something truly special is incredibly challenging. You have got to really want it: you have to be passionate; you have to care about it, and you have to dedicate yourself. We have a studio full of talented people who have put their hearts into making this game – this is not just a game on their resume, speak to any one of them, they’ve been on a journey. We hope that the game we’ve built will endure and that this is a well deserving renaissance for Lara Croft.”
Growing up I was always a huge fan of the Tomb Raider franchise. I’ve played through every game multiple times. Sadly, the movies seemed to really water down the tone of the games and made them come off a bit cheesy. I’m really looking forward to this game and seeing how the character of Lara Croft has become more humanized.
